Drug Discount Program Expanded: Bristol-Myers Squibb said it would expand discounts on drugs it sells directly to the federal government. Under a federal law passed in 1990, drug companies are required to give discounts to Medicaid and other large-volume government buyers of drugs such as the Veterans Administration. But Bristol-Myers said it is going beyond those requirements, extending discounts to health centers funded by the U.S. Public Health Service, including Indian health centers, drug and alcohol treatment clinics and AIDS clinics that are fully funded by the federal government and purchase directly from Bristol-Myers.
