Party Planned for Gulf War Veterans
Community organizations in northeast Los Angeles will sponsor an outdoor welcome-home party Sunday for local men and women who served in Operation Desert Storm. The event will begin at 2 p.m. in the Eagle Rock City Hall parking lot, 2035 Colorado Blvd.
Bands from Eagle Rock and Franklin high schools will perform. Local scout troops will lead the audience in singing. The event is open to the public, and refreshments will be provided.
Northeast Los Angeles residents who served in the Persian Gulf have been invited to attend in their military uniforms. Gift baskets donated by Eagle Rock merchants will be given to the honorees.
Dignitaries expected to participate in the event include Capt. Dan Schatz of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast Division, Los Angeles City Councilman Richard Alatorre and Assemblymen Pat Nolan (R-Glendale) and Richard Polanco (D-Los Angeles).
