Wilson Supports Mexico Trade Pact: Gov. Pete Wilson, saying that international trade is necessary to ensure California’s continued prosperity, called on Congress to give President Bush “fast-track” authority to negotiate a free-trade agreement between the United States and Mexico. Under the “fast-track” system, Congress would agree to a straight up-or-down vote, with no amendments, on a free-trade treaty being negotiated by U.S. Trade Representative Carla Anderson Hills.
