Bradley Leaving on Trip to 4 Asian Countries
Mayor Tom Bradley will leave on a two-week trip to four Asian countries today to promote Los Angeles tourism.
The trip, Bradley’s 17th overseas sojourn since January, 1987, is being funded by the city Department of Airports, the Port of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau. Bradley said the Rodney G. King beating and the Persian Gulf War have contributed to decreased tourism and business travel to Los Angeles, and the trip is essential to draw visitors back to the city.
“These two events could dramatically impact the number of businesses and visitors who choose Los Angeles,” Bradley said. “It is time to remind our friends in the Far East of the Olympics hospitality for which our city is famous.”
