SPEAKING UP: UC Irvine has named one of its co-founders a Regents Professor. The honor goes to Edmund G. (Pat) Brown Sr., who was governor when the campus was created in 1965. . . . Brown, 85, will give his first of three lectures next week, speaking on capital punishment and prisons. The university says he will provide “a firsthand view” of how governors lead.
