Arson Blamed in $25,000 Fire
Arson is blamed for a fire that destroyed about $25,000 worth of building materials behind the San Diego Urban League headquarters in Southeast San Diego early Monday night, San Diego fire officials said.
When firefighters arrived at 5:20 p.m. at the Urban League office in the 4200 block of Market Street, they saw a column of smoke rising from a storage area behind the one-story building. It took firefighters about 15 minutes to control the blaze, which destroyed wood and other building materials intended to be used for Urban League projects, fire officials said.
Fire officials said late Monday night that arson had been determined to be the cause of the fire and that the Metro Arson Strike Team is continuing its investigation.
