Local News in Brief : Irvine : Girl Dies of Injuries From 6-Car Accident
A 4-year-old Irvine girl injured in a car accident on the San Diego Freeway last week died Sunday of her injuries, authorities said.
Anita Rivers had been in critical condition at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo with head injuries from the accident Wednesday near El Toro.
The accident occurred when one car rear-ended another, setting off a chain of collisions that involved six vehicles on the freeway crowded with Thanksgiving holiday traffic. Two people were slightly injured.
The girl was riding with her mother when their car was hit. Authorities said she was wearing a seat belt. The mother was not injured.
