And the cost of Rambo-style protection on the road? $68,250. That’s what it cost Miami car customizer Marvin Friedman to pick up Sylvester Stallone’s fully armored 1987 Chevrolet Suburban at an auction Saturday. The vehicle has 2-inch-thick shatter-proof glass and reinforced plating in the floor and sides, and a computerized navigation system, police alarm, public address system, TV, VCR, compact disc player and telephone. Stallone had the vehicle custom-built after receiving death threats; a spokesman for the actor said he plans to get a 1989 model with lighter armor.
