Local News in Brief : Buena Park : Boy Darts Into Street, Is Struck by Motorist
A 4-year-old boy was seriously injured Friday when he ran between two parked cars into the street and was struck by a car, police said.
The child, whom police would not identify because he is a juvenile, was taken by helicopter to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was in stable condition Friday evening, Buena Park Police Sgt. Mike Schwartz said.
The accident occurred about 2:21 p.m. when a woman motorist westbound in the 7300 block of 8th Street failed to see the child as he ran into the street from between two parked cars, police said.
“Officers investigating the accident determined there was no wrongdoing on the part of (the driver) and no charges will be brought against her,” Schwartz said.
Citizens in the area administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid until paramedics arrived, Schwartz said.
