Local News in Brief : Countywide : Mayor Elected to OCTD Board in Vote by Cities
Huntington Beach Mayor John Erskine has been named to the Orange County Transit District board of directors in a vote by representatives of the county’s 28 cities.
Erskine, who is also executive director of the Orange County chapter of the Building Industry Assn., replaces Gerald Mullen, a Cypress councilman whose term on the OCTD board expires next month.
Erskine was selected Thursday over Fountain Valley Councilman George Scott and Buena Park Mayor Rhonda McCune.
County transportation officials said Friday that Erskine is expected to favor the proposed merger of OCTD and the Orange County Transportation Commission if certain conditions are met to ensure adequate representation of the county’s cities on any new, consolidated transportation board.
Erskine could not be reached for comment Friday.
