Yosemite Cuts Back Search for Hiker, 86
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK — The official search for Donald Buchanan, 86, missing in Yosemite National Park for six days, has been scaled back, a park spokeswoman said Thursday.
“We will be conducting a limited continuous operation,” Lisa Dapprich said. She said the limited search will involve distributing flyers about Buchanan to park visitors and investigating any concrete leads.
Buchanan told friends in Mariposa he was going to climb Half Dome last week and would be back on Nov. 11. When he did not return by Saturday, the search was launched involving, at times, as many as 100 people, 3 helicopters and 5 dog teams.
