Lakeside
Two people were killed and another was seriously wounded Wednesday night in a Lakeside apartment after an irate gunman reportedly opened fire on his ex-wife, a man and a 16-year-old boy, sheriff’s investigators said.
Deputies arrived at the apartment, in the 9600 block of Los Coches Road, about 9:15 p.m. after neighbors reported hearing gunshots and a woman’s screams.
They found Teresa Ann Hernandez, 24, who lived at the apartment, dead from a gunshot wound to the chest. Jesus Mirales-Rodriguez, 16, died shortly after being taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital by Life Flight helicopter. He had been shot once in the head, a deputy said.
His brother, Jose Mirales-Rodriguez, 20, was also shot in the head and taken by Life Flight to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was in serious condition Thursday.
Homicide investigators are seeking Aristeo Valenzuela Hernandez, 27, the dead woman’s former husband. Investigators said the suspect apparently was quarreling with his ex-wife, brandished a pistol, shot the victims and then fled the apartment.
