Local News in Brief : Westminster : Sarah Jones Elected Presiding Judge

Sarah S. Jones has been unanimously elected presiding judge of the West Orange County Municipal Court for 1989, and Marvin G. Weeks was selected to serve as assistant presiding judge.

Jones received her law degree from USC, as well as a master’s degree in public administration. She clerked for the Orange County district attorney’s office while in law school and after graduating worked as as a deputy district attorney.

Jones later became assistant administrator for the Los Angeles County Juvenile Court before accepting positions with State Farm and Pacific Mutual Life Insurance. In 1985, she was appointed to the Municipal Court bench by Gov. George Deukmejian.

Weeks has been a Municipal Court judge since 1975. Before his appointment, he served as a referee for Orange County Superior Court and as a deputy county counsel in Orange County. He is a graduate of Southwestern University Law School in Los Angeles.
