The Fieldstone Co., a Newport Beach home builder, said it completed its $180-million acquisition of 2,810 acres in Carlsbad from BCE Development Corp. The deal was announced in August. BCE sold because it is shifting from building houses in the suburbs to developing large buildings in big cities. Fieldstone had an option to buy the nearby Scripps Ranch North property, also owned by BCE. But Fieldstone said Thursday that it will not exercise the option. Fieldstone plans to build 3,900 single-family homes on the land it purchased.
