A man brandishing a shotgun died after being wounded by a police officer Saturday night . The shooting occurred after police responded to a report of shots being fired in a duplex in the 1000 block of Division Street.

When an officer went to the door at the residence he was confronted by a man with a shotgun, police reported. The officer fired several shots which wounded the man.

Police arrested two other men at the scene, one inside the house and another as he tried to flee from a window. They were identified as Juan Gonzalez Azarate, 28, and Julian Vasquez Camarena, 29, both of Mexico. Fearing there might be other armed men in the building, police called for the SWAT team which searched the building but found no one.

The wounded man was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he died after undergoing surgery, police said. His identity remained unknown Sunday night.
