The State - News from Aug. 27, 1987
A man who was separated from 10 siblings when his itinerant farm worker parents offered them for adoption in 1929 has traced another member of his family. Ed Maddox of Sunland was adopted by a couple in Oakland and did not begin looking for his natural family until his adoptive mother’s death. He has since found three of his sisters and determined that two of his brothers are dead. And now he has located another brother, Walter Berman, 65, a retired federal employee living in Hamilton, Ohio, and hopes to trace the rest. Berman said he and Maddox had a tearful reunion by telephone and have agreed to try to find the money to gather the entire family again for Thanksgiving this year.
