A California man accused of using a handgun to force an Amtrak crew to stop a passenger train in a remote section of central Utah on July 4 was arraigned on four counts of aggravated kidnaping. Eleventh Circuit Judge John Ruggeri in Price, Utah, continued the arraignment for Donald R. Brian, 44, of Hayward for at least 30 days to give the defendant’s court-appointed attorney time to review the charges. But Brian will remain in the Carbon County Jail pending a separate arraignment Aug. 31 in 7th District Court when he was expected to plead guilty to charges he stole two handguns from a Price pawnshop.
