El Monte’s replica of the Statue of Liberty has finally found a home. City Council members have decided to put the 22-foot fiberglass statue outside City Hall. Dr. Jing T. Wang, a Taiwanese immigrant, donated the statue to the city, which had been searching for a suitable site. The city had wanted to put it outside the Rio Hondo Municipal Court, across the street from City Hall, but the judges declined, saying that the one-ton, bright green figure did not blend in with the judicial atmosphere.
