Neighbor Held in Sex Attack, Death of Woman, 73
A 30-year old Glendale man who lived next door to a woman found slain earlier this month has been arrested on suspicion of murder, Glendale authorities said.
Hugo Beltran, an employee of an Arcadia carpet-cleaning company, is being held without bail at Glendale City Jail, Police Sgt. Dean Durand said.
He is a suspect in the slaying of Helen C. Kennedy, 73, who was found dead in her Lexington Drive home Aug. 9. Kennedy had been sexually assaulted and beaten to death by an intruder who entered her home through a rear window, Durand said.
Durand reported that Beltran was arrested Tuesday evening after investigators uncovered fingerprints in Kennedy’s bedroom.
