Firm to Seek Leak Solutions

A committee studying pinhole leaks in water pipes that have plagued more than 1,000 homeowners in the past seven years has selected a consulting firm to recommend solutions.

Water has been leaking through tiny holes in the copper water pipes, apparently a result of interaction of chemicals in the well water supplied to residents.

The company, D. R. Reedy/P.E. of Alta Loma, was selected by residents experiencing the problem with the approval of the city, which will pay the estimated $9,800 cost. The study will be completed within 90 days by Donald R. Reedy and George Moller, corrosion engineers, who say that between them they have studied more than 60 individual copper plumbing problems in which causes of metal deterioration were determined and recommended solutions were provided.
