Religious Vandalism Drops
Vandalism against religious targets in Los Angeles County dropped by 25% in the first six months of 1987 compared to the same period in 1986, the county’s Human Relations Commission reported today.
At the same time, however, the level of hate incidents motivated by race remained at the same record level established last year, the commission reported. Most of the incidents in both religious and racial categories were directed at Jews and blacks and involved graffiti, but the commission also reported that cross burnings and freeway shootings were among the ways people showed their hatred.
