A man and a woman were arrested by Santa Ana police on charges of burgling banks at night and taking rolls of coins. Lt. Mike Mitchell said $1,400 in rolled coins were found during the arrest of Jerome Louis Brown, 31, of Santa Ana and Virginia Ruth Hughey, 34, described as a transient by police. The two are believed responsible for up to seven nighttime burglaries of coins from commercial banks in the Santa Ana area, Mitchell said. The suspects were booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of receiving stolen property and possession of stolen property. They were arrested without incident.
