Boy, 16, Held in Fatal Shooting in Sun Valley
Police have arrested a 16-year-old San Fernando youth in the shooting death earlier this month of a Sun Valley man outside a wedding reception, detectives said Tuesday.
The boy is accused of shooting Martin Esquivel, 23, during an argument outside a union hall in the 11600 block of Sherman Way in Sun Valley on Aug. 2, Los Angeles Police Sgt. Ray Davies said.
Investigators have not learned what the argument was about, Davies said. The 16-year-old youth was in hiding until Monday afternoon when he returned home and was taken to the North Hollywood Division police station by his parents, Davies said.
He was arrested on a murder warrant and was being held in Sylmar Juvenile Hall pending a detention hearing later this week, Davies said.
