Hermosa Beach City Manager Gregory T. Meyer has resigned to become deputy administrator of the Los Angeles City Redevelopment Agency. Meyer, 45, said his resignation is not related to a recently released Los Angeles County district attorney’s report that said he counseled employees to falsify insurance forms to obtain benefits for which they were not entitled. The report said Meyer would not be prosecuted, however, because there was no evidence he profited from the actions, making a conviction unlikely. Meyer said he is leaving the $63,000-a-year position after six years in large part because the city job pays more. Meyer has been credited with helping turn Hermosa Beach around financially. Earlier this year, city council members criticized him, in fact, for not properly informing them that the city’s finances had drastically improved.
