A Huntington Beach man was killed and his three passengers were injured when their car went off the San Diego Freeway Friday morning and crashed into some trees, authorities said.
The driver, Jeff Carneval, 19, died of injuries received in the accident, the coroner’s office said.
Chris Hanaford, 18, of Huntington Beach and two other male 17-year-old passengers, of Huntington Beach and Riverside, were listed Friday in stable condition at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Carneval was driving north at 9:10 a.m. at a high rate of speed on the San Diego Freeway, just south of Valley View Street, when his car ran off the road for unknown reasons. All four accident victims were wearing seat belts, officers said.
