Mission Viejo : 3 Killed, Girl Injured in Crash at Intersection
Three people were killed and a 4-year-old girl was injured after two cars collided at an intersection Thursday, shortly before midnight, authorities said.
Marissa Rogers, who was riding in the back seat of her mother’s car, was listed in stable condition Friday at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo. Her mother, Gina Azenara, 27, of Mission Viejo, died of injuries suffered in the accident while en route to the hospital, said California Highway Patrol spokesman Steve Bell.
Both the driver of the second car, Louis Richard Macias, 25, of Mission Viejo, and his passenger, Lorraine Johnson, 27, of San Clemente, died at the scene, Bell said.
According to the CHP, Azenara was southbound in a Ford Mustang on Trabuco Road at 11:30 p.m. when she apparently ran a red light at the Los Alisos Boulevard intersection and hit a Toyota Corolla driven by Macias broadside.
The collision knocked the Toyota on its side, and it skidded through the intersection, jumped a curb and crashed into a tree, according to the CHP, which said that no one was wearing a seat belt.
