Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III “was not well-served” by Justice Department officials who reviewed his 1985 financial disclosure statement and failed to flag problems with Meese’s investment partnership with a former official of Wedtech Corp., a General Accounting Office official testified before a House Post Office and Civil Service subcommittee. “It should have been very apparent” in examining what Meese described as a “limited blind partnership” in Financial Management International Inc. that it did not meet the requirements for a blind trust, Assistant Comptroller Gen. William J. Anderson said.
