Boeing Co. has asked Washington state to consider stiffening its anti-takeover laws, a move which comes little more than a week after corporate raider T. Boone Pickens said he may buy up to 15% of the Seattle aircraft maker. In the past, large corporations facing unwanted takeover threats have turned to state legislatures for laws meant to raise hurdles to a bidder. The Minnesota legislature in June passed a law to help retailer Dayton Hudson Corp. fight off a pending takeover effort by the Haft family. Washington state legislators plan to hold hearings on the proposals this weekend.
