Los Alamitos : Cyclist Hurt in Crash During Chase, Police Say
A motorcyclist being chased by police suffered minor injuries when he crashed into a parked car, authorities said Sunday.
The motorcyclist, identified as Scott D. Perry, 23, of Cypress, did not require hospitalization and was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving and evading an officer, Los Alamitos Police Sgt. Jim Jeffen said.
The incident began about 9:40 p.m. Saturday, when officers “observed a motorcycle southbound on Los Alamitos Boulevard at a high rate of speed,” Jeffen said.
When police tried to stop the driver, he roared off, reaching speeds of about 100 m.p.h. at one point, Jeffen said.
The chase ended when the motorcyclist lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a parked car near the intersection of Weatherby and Hedwig roads. Jeffen said Perry “miraculously” suffered only minor injuries, and was treated at the scene.
