Orange : College to Hold Institute for Gifted High Schoolers
As part of a national move to improve science and math training for bright high school students, Chapman College is host to a special institute this month.
The National Center for Excellence in Education (NCEE), which is based in Washington, D.C., will open its first West Coast summer institute at Chapman. NCEE, a private organization, last year started a summer math-science institute for high school students at Long Island University in New York.
The executive secretary of the NCEE is Russian emigre Edward D. Lozansky, a famed math and physics instructor who became a leader in world efforts that demanded civil rights for Russian dissidents, including Andrei Sakharov.
