A federal judge issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a Malibu man convicted in a motion picture tax shelter scheme after the man failed to appear for sentencing. Gerald R. Rogers, 52, formerly of Seattle, faces a potential sentence of 101 years in prison for his conviction June 15 on nine counts of mail fraud and 21 counts of filing false income tax returns. According to federal prosecutors, Rogers caused 157 investors to file false income tax returns based on sham transactions related to his movie tax shelter scheme.
