Poor planning for last weekend’s Golden Gate Bridge 50th anniversary celebration suggests that day-to-day operation of the span has been improper, said state Sen. Quentin Kopp (I-San Francisco), who promised to seek a state audit of bridge district management. District officials had predicted that 50,000 people would show up for the event, underestimating the actual attendance by roughly 750,000.
