Sexual Assault, Strangulation of Woman Being Investigated
Police Friday were investigating the sexual assault and strangulation of a 23-year-old woman whose body was found in a Garden Grove house where she rented a room.
The body of Shannon Rose Lloyd, 23, was found shortly before midnight by Casimar Bursuk, 70, who also lives at the house in the 11900 block of Donna Lane in a northern Garden Grove residential neighborhood, Police Lt. Chuck Gibbs said.
Bursuk is not a suspect in the killing, Gibbs said. A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said she let Bursuk into her house to use her telephone Thursday night to report the homicide.
Another neighbor, Charles King, 42, described Lloyd as an attractive, petite woman with a son and a boyfriend who frequently visited her. King said there also were “some rough characters” who would visit her occasionally.
On at least three occasions, King said, he saw police come to the house for unknown reasons.
Police said Friday that they had no suspects.
Andrew Rocks, 70, who has lived in the neighborhood for more than 30 years, Friday said, “Everybody has been burglarized around here, except us.” But police said that there was no evidence of forced entry and that no property appeared to be missing.
An autopsy Friday determined that Lloyd “died from strangulation,” Gibbs said. “We’re investigating it as a sexual assault and homicide.”
