Long Beach : Chamber President Named
Brent R. Hunter, 37, was appointed president of the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce this week, ending a lengthy search to replace Rolfe Arnhym, who resigned under pressure in December.
Chief executive of the Ontario chamber for six years, Hunter will take over in Long Beach on June 15, Chairwoman Elaine Hutchison said. The fourth chamber head in three years, he will inherit a budget deficit Hutchison said has been reduced from $200,000 last July 1 to $160,000.
Hunter is a former banker with 14 years’ management experience for chambers of commerce, including stints in Chino Valley and Pomona.
Lee Sellers, a vice president at Wrather Port Properties, operator of the Queen Mary and Spruce Goose, has run the chamber for five months on “executive loan.” He was commended for reducing costs and tightening administrative procedures.
