Duarte : Beranek Named to Council
Ed Beranek has been appointed to the City Council to replace James Coughlin, who resigned because he is applying for the position of city attorney. Beranek, 42, is a certified public accountant who has lived in Duarte for 17 years. He has served on the Planning and Economic Development commissions and was a candidate in the 1984 City Council election, losing to incumbent Coughlin and Mervin Money. Beranek said he has not yet decided whether he will run in the November election.
