Pomona : Park Development Opposed
The City Council has approved a resolution opposing a county plan to put a shopping area, lodge and amphitheater in the Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park. Councilwoman Nell Soto said the plan would over-commercialize the “last bastion” of open space in the area. Soto, Mayor Donna Smith and Councilman E.J. Gaulding voted for the resolution at Monday’s council meeting. Councilman Mark A.T. Nymeyer cast the lone dissenting vote, saying the council should wait for a revised environmental impact report from the county before making a decision.
