Monrovia : Gold Hill Project Approved

The City Council has approved the Gold Hill subdivision in the foothills north of Myrtle Avenue, eight years after developer James Fry first proposed the project. Fry and developer Peter Sidlow will grade lots for 54 homes on 60 acres, with an 30 more acres set aside as permanent open space. Fry had proposed building more than 100 homes, but voters, who objected to the density and the extent of the grading, defeated the project in 1980. Last summer, the council denied Fry a grading permit because of concerns that the work would extend into the rainy season.
