Monterey Park : Incorporation Anniversary
The 71st anniversary of Monterey Park’s incorporation will be celebrated with a carnival, musical entertainment and parade during the city’s annual Play Days today through Sunday.
Carnival rides, food stands and game booths will be open at Barnes Park from 4 to 11 p.m. today, 4 p.m. to midnight Friday, 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. Entertainment will include rock bands Friday night, the Mark Keppel High School Jazz Band at 5 p.m. Saturday, and clowns, magicians and puppeteers Sunday. The parade, including bands, drill teams and antique cars, will start at 11 a.m. Saturday on Garvey Avenue at Alhambra Avenue and travel west to McPherrin Avenue and south to Barnes Park.
