Stress
Reading the article (March 21), “Asst. City Atty. Accused of Perjury Files Stress Claim,” makes me think that the words “suffered job-related stress” are becoming a standard operating procedure for every kind of job. Nice if you can get 90% of a $76,669 annual salary. If this goes on, everyone on down to the lowest filing clerk will claim disability.
When one begins to enumerate the positions and work all of us take on, I dare anyone to not be able to discover some stress. Just listing a few makes one think: a housewife, the nurse, the teacher, the pupil, a waitress, a trash collector, an actor, the President, the janitor, a salesperson, and a whole host of others. Even a retired person like myself discovers another form of stress and takes the “re” off the job title and calls himself just plain “tired,” but goes on not crying “disability.”
