Countywide : New Officers Elected by County Commission
Jerome M. Bame of Huntington Beach was elected chairman of the Orange County Fish and Game Commission Tuesday, succeeding William R. Sammons of San Clemente. Harry S. Williamson of Westminster is the new vice chairman.
Commissioners met in the visitors’ center at Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park east of San Juan Capistrano. They heard a presentation, accompanied by color slides, about the efforts at the Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Canyon by Friends of the Sea Lion to rescue and treat sick and injured ocean animals picked up along the county’s beaches.
John Cunningham said the center, which he directs, operates solely on donations to pay for one curator, plus food and medication for the animals. Commissioners, indicating they were interested in offering some financial help, asked Cunningham to return to the next meeting in March with a detailed financial statement.
