Fullerton : Councilman Appointed to Waste Authority
City Councilman Richard C. Ackerman has been appointed to the Southern California Hazardous Waste Management Authority.
The authority is concerned with choosing sites for the disposal of waste. It was created by the Southern California Assn. of Governments about six months ago, Ackerman said, after a similar committee showed some progress.
“We got a gentleman’s agreement that each county will take care of its own waste, instead of dumping it in some other county,” Ackerman said.
Ackerman was selected by the the League of California Cities’ Orange County division. He will represent Orange County cities on the authority.
Ackerman has been a member of the Orange County Waste and Hazardous Materials Management Advisory Commision since 1982.
