Countywide : Six Teens to Be Picked as Fair Ambassadors
Orange County Fair officials are searching for six teen-agers to serve as ambassadors for the fair, which will run from July 11-20 in Costa Mesa.
The ambassadors, ages 16 through 18, will promote the fair at community events and assist with special events and activities during the fair.
Candidates must be Orange County residents and will be judged on communication skills, personality, general appearance, scholastic records, availability, community service and--a new category this year--stage arts.
Winners will receive a $250 cash prize, two clothing outfits and several donated prizes. And starting this year, the top-scoring girl among the six ambassadors will be eligible for the Miss California State Scholarship Program. The program will give contestants a chance to win an $8,500 scholarship to the college of her choice and to represent fairs and festivals in California in 1987.
Applications may be obtained by phoning the Orange County Fair media relations department at (714) 751-3247. The deadline is March 30.
