Culver City : College Receives Citation
West Los Angeles College has received a commendation from the Los Angeles Community College District for its Handicapped Student Services program, according to college President Jack Fujimoto.
The program, which is under the direction of Burton Amos, professor of special education, offers disabled students a variety of services and materials to help them attend classes and complete their studies.
“We try to mainstream the disabled student into regular classes,” Amos said. “We offer students counseling, special parking and some transportation assistance. We loan out special equipment . . . and we provide students with note-takers and readers.
Interested students can call Amos at (213) 836-7110, extension 417, or Richard Wallace at extension 289.
