American Airlines’ Parent Reports 3rd Record Year
AMR Corp., parent company of American Airlines, reported that its fourth-quarter earnings were slightly higher than a year earlier while net income for all of 1985 totaled $345.8 million, the third straight year of record gains.
Fourth-quarter net income was $24.4 million, compared to $23.6 million posted for the like 1984 quarter, AMR said.
Dallas-based AMR, No. 2 in size behind United Airlines and the industry pacesetter in fare structures, said in a statement that 1985 net earnings surpassed 1984’s record of $233.9 million. Net earnings for 1983 were a record $227.9 million.
