California Chief Justice Rose Elizabeth Bird informed Secretary of State March Fong Eu that she intends to run for a new 12-year term in November, 1986. Bird filed her declaration 19 months before she had to under the law. There have been printed suggestions that Bird will be urged by liberals to step down so that two other justices on the ballot, Joseph Grodin and Cruz Reynoso, will not lose their seats as a result of the drive by conservative Republicans to oust all three, who were appointed by former Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr.
