Sage Hospitality will spread the love by donating room rates to charity
Stay, sleep, give. That’s the message from hotels in the Sage Hospitality group that will start a novel giving program next month. Each of 53 hotels will select four guest rooms at random each night and donate the cost of the room to charity. The room’s guests get to choose which of six organizations will receive the donation.
The While You Were Sleeping program, from Feb. 1 to Feb.14, will contribute to groups such as UNICEF, Big Brothers Big Sisters, World Vision and FoodforthePoor.org. Participating hotels, listed on the program page, include the Nines in Portland, Ore.; the Hilton San Diego / Del Mar; and Courtyard Marriott Los Angeles, Pasadena / Monrovia; and others.
So what’s the point of this feel-good perk?
Walter Isenberg, Sage Hospitality president and chief executive, explained it this way in a statement: “While You Were Sleeping is a creative way to open the eyes of guests and staff alike to the significance of philanthropy that spreads hope and inspiration at home and around the globe.”
Who can argue with that?
