MGM Grand worker killed in plunge from third-floor window
A worker was killed in an accident at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
The unidentified victim fell from a third-story window of the MGM Grand Conference Center, Gordon Absher, vice president of public affairs for MGM Resorts International, said in a statement.
Las Vegas police responded to the scene and are investigating the accident.
“This is a difficult time and a devastating loss for our entire MGM team,” Absher said in the statement. “The thoughts of our entire MGM team are with the family at this difficult time.”
No specifics were released on the incident, but photos from the scene on social media showed a shattered third-story window and a body covered in sheets below.
Police referred all questions to the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the agency that investigates workplace accidents. Calls to the agency were not immediately returned.
The fatal accident comes in a week of tough news for Las Vegas. A married couple shot and killed two police officers eating lunch at a pizzeria and then killed a man in a nearby Wal-Mart who tried to stop their rampage. The woman then shot and killed her husband before committing suicide, according to witnesses and authorities.
