Nancie Clare Named Editor of LA, Los Angeles Times Magazine

LOS ANGELES, Calif., October 12, 2009 – The Los Angeles Times Media Group announced today that Nancie Clare will take on the role of Editor for The Times monthly, Sunday magazine effective immediately.

“Nancie Clare brings a wealth of talent to her position as LA’s Editor,” said The Times Editor Russ Stanton. “Her vision for our Sunday magazine’s coverage of all things Southern Californian promises to be fresh and eclectic.”

As an original member of the LA, Los Angeles Times Magazine’s September 2008 launch team, Clare served as Deputy Editor. She has been involved in every aspect of the publication’s conceptualization and development and became Executive Editor in January 2009. Clare will now oversee all of LA’s multimedia content, creative direction, and editorial staff, and will work alongside Publisher, Steve Gellman.

Nancie Clare is an accomplished online and print publishing veteran with experience ranging from serving as Managing Editor of WomensWallStreet.com to Editor in Chief of Ticketmaster’s events and sports guide supplements and an early career turn as Los Angeles Magazine, Events Editor.

Reporting to Clare are LA’s Creative Director Rip Georges, Managing Editor Helene Goldsen, Design and Culture Editor Mayer Rus, Senior Editor Jod Kaftan and Food and Wine Editor Lora Zarubin, all of whom help produce both the print edition and newly revamped site (www.latimesmagazine.com). The editorial team also includes Nic Harcourt on music, John Ireland on sports, Annie Jacobsen on unusual back stories, Tom Zimmerman on L.A. history, Robin Sayers on style, Carol Wolper, Mary Murphy and Jesse Kornbluth.

The November 1st issue of LA will highlight entertaining and travel and December 6th will feature a holiday gift guide. LA’s 2010 editorial calendar is as follows:
