Sprinkles Cupcakes, Honey Boo Boo and free ice cream
I had the misfortune last night of just missing Honey Boo Boo hit the Sprinkles cupcake ATM in Beverly Hills. Honey Boo Boo, the toddler beauty queen turned child reality TV star from McIntyre, Ga., apparently got to stick her head in the cupcake dispenser. All I got was a behind-the-scenes tour of how the cupcake ATM works. A cadre of paparazzi took pictures of her at the cupcake ATM. I got to take a photo of the back of the machine. At least we both got to eat cupcakes.
And so will more and more people as Sprinkles’ cupcakes continue to populate the world. Since opening their first store in Beverly Hills in 2005, owners Candace and Charles Nelson now have 10 Sprinkles locations and are opening several shops in the coming months, including a mini bakery at the Grove in November. The new mini Sprinkles Cupcakes will be at the entrance of the Grove, replacing the concierge center. The next month, another Sprinkles Cupcakes location will open at the Figat7th shopping center downtown.
In the spring, a second Sprinkles Ice Cream (the first one opened next door to the original Sprinkles Cupcakes in Beverly Hills in May) will debut in Newport Beach. Also, more of those Boo Boo-friendly ATMs are planned.
And Wednesday through Friday, by the way, Sprinkles Ice Cream is offering buy-one-get-one-free scoops of ice cream (limit one per person).
Sprinkles Cupcakes and Sprinkles Ice Cream stores also are slated for Las Vegas and Dallas next year, all designed by architect Andrea Lenardin. Candace Nelson says she also is planning a dessert emporium that would combine concepts.
