What does dad want for brunch? Beer and coffee, of course

Coffee and beer are two of dad’s favorite beverages, and on Saturday the two brewed drinks are coming together in creative ways at an event organized with fathers in mind.

Moving from last year’s downtown warehouse space to Santa Monica’s Tiato, the second iteration of the Father’s Day CollaBREWtive Brunch put on by Food GPS and Firestone Walker Brewing Co. features local breweries teaming with local coffee roasters on special brews -- in addition to brunchy noshes from 10 local chefs.

Eight breweries are working on beers for the events, and the offerings will include a coffee-dosed India Pale Ale (from Golden Road Brewing and Handsome Roasters) and a beer inspired by horchata infused with coffee (from the Bruery and Tierra Mia Coffee). Check out the full list here, but don’t worry too much about deciding which to have -- the $65 ticket includes unlimited beer tastings. (There are also VIP tickets available for $90 that will get you into the venue an hour early and guarantee you a place to sit.)

Admission also includes tastes of all the food and (straight) coffee that you’d like, including small plates from the local chefs behind Cooks County, Loteria Grill, Mud Hen Tavern, Plan Check and more.

Last year’s event was a great way to experience just how synergistic coffee and beer can be, and by the end of the afternoon, the crowd was buzzing with excitement over the different takes on combining the beer with the beans. Many of the brewers, roasters and chefs are in attendance, and it’s a great opportunity to hear about the brews and food directly from the minds behind them.

The brunch will also feature kid-friendly events, and Los Angeles Ale Works will again be pouring their non-alcoholic craft sodas (in coffee and Thai Tea flavors).
